I had a wonderful time photographing nine families yesterday afternoon at the 20th annual Light Factory Shoot Out. It was a blast! Families sign up for 30 minute sessions with a professional photographer and we work together to make the best possible portraits. The whole staff of the Light Factory turns out for this festive fund raiser and it was so much fun for all of us. The Shoot Out benefits The Light Factory’s great educational and outreach programs. I can’t thank my friend Tom Dills enough – he was a fantastic assistant – thought about what I needed before I could speak up…He takes beautiful landscape and nature photography, so working with families and children was a new experience for him. And I owe many thanks to my friend Kate Weaver, a very talented child portrait photographer, who loaned me the beautiful backdrop I used in my studio shots. We volunteer our time and work with each family to get the best possible portraits. It was a lovely event and I hope to participate again next year! Here are my favorite photos from our afternoon at the Shoot Out:
