I got to spend a morning with these adorable little ones. Crystal blue eyes, pink cheeks and sweet smiles. Their home had beautiful light streaming in the windows, so we started in the dining room and then went outside to be in the warm sunlight. Their demeanor was so sweet and gentle and I had a lot of fun with them and their mom. Thank you for a really great morning! And here are some sneak peeks from our photo session ~
I loved spending time with this wonderful family ~ on a recent fall afternoon in Charlotte. The leaves were turning a bright orange and there was a little nip in the air. Their boys are so handsome – Love their freckles and thick eyelashes ~ sweeeeeet ! And their parents know how to have fun. We’ve enjoyed getting to know our new friends…. and here are a few sneak peeks from our afternoon in the garden.

I enjoyed photographing these three brothers and their parents – they were so much fun to be with. These brothers love moving around, playing sports and enjoy the outdoors – so their garden made for a wonderful setting for a family portrait session. The late afternoon gave a soft, sweet light, perfect for active portraits. I love running around with children ~ and we did our share of running, jumping, kicking and laughing. Oh and I loved the front steps decorated with mums and pumpkins. Even their cat is orange ~ Autumn is really here ~ it inspired me to put out our Halloween & fall decorations, but we still need to buy a pumpkin or two… and start carving… Until then, here are some sneak peeks from my fun session with this wonderful family!

While I spend much of my time photographing children and families, I work on assignment with newspapers. This past month, The Washington Post Travel Section photo editor Giuliana Nakashima hired me to photograph the lodge at Primland, a resort in Meadows of Dan, Va. This is no ordinary lodge – it has an observatory with a high powered telescope in it. So I had a lot of fun photographing the building, the silo-like observatory and the night sky. It’s a little tricky to balance the ambient light of the lodge with the stars, but a long exposure and a sturdy tripod helped to make it happen. You can see the story in today’s Washington Post travel section. The story is beautifully written and will make you want to visit!
Here are some of my favorite photos from my assignment at Primland resort.

I had a blast photographing three wonderful brothers ~ full of energy and spice. Their grandparents were visiting and it was a great time for a family portrait session. Their mom and I have been talking about getting together for a portrait session for a while, and the timing was perfect. An impossibly blue sky, golden sunshine, a gorgeous front porch bursting with flowers & greenery and really fun back yard ~ all worked together to create a special time for this beautiful family. And without further ado, here are some sneak peeks from this super fun family photo session…

I love newborns. So soft, sweet and cuddly. I could just sit and watch them for hours. Well, last weekend I got to photograph an 11 day old baby and his family. It was so much fun! This is the third time I have photographed this sweet family. The first time I did, his older sister was five months old. Last year we spent time together at Fort McHenry in Baltimore. This time, we didn’t leave the house – the light was gorgeous – streaming in through the windows to dance around the walls and throw around soft hues. Baby brother slept much of the time, but when he was awake he was really hungry! His adorable sister has developed a head of soft curls and a smile that will knock your socks off. Congratulations Mom & Dad – I feel honored to be able to document your growing family! Here are some sneak peeks from our Baltimore city session … P.S. I travel to the the Baltimore-Washington area several times a year. Please contact me through my website if you are interested in booking a photo session.
